Visited Ahmedabad with family and wanted to try an authentic Gujarati thali. After checking Google and ChatGPT suggestions, we shortlisted Gordhan Thal. We reached around 2 PM and were surprised to see a waiting time of 30+ minutes. We decided to wait, but one thing felt quite odd — the waiting system isn’t strictly first-come-first-serve. Instead, they prioritize based on table size availability. For example, a group of 9 may get seated earlier than smaller groups even if they arrived later. This could definitely be improved. That said, once seated, the experience completely changed. The food was excellent — well-balanced flavors, not overly spicy or heavy, and very comfortable on the stomach even after a full meal. Everything tasted fresh and authentic. Service was quick and efficient despite the crowd. The staff ensures you try everything and keeps serving generously, which adds to the overall experience. Gordhan Thal is among best known places with a traditional Gujarati Thai. The food is tasty and delicious. Service is awesome. Great experience of relishing the Gujarati Thali. It's a different matter that the thali is a calorie bomb! I was here to conduct an experiential Gastronomy Tour for participants of a conference. :)

I love Thali and try out new places in every town of Gujarat when I visit. Even at Ahmedabad been to many places and this place will be on top of the list for me. There was quite a bit of a rush. But we were provided a seat within 10 mins, in-spite of being a large group of 8 people. The food was fantastic and the service was amazing.
